Coco Goes To Study In England

Hello, everyone.

Thank you very much for reading my earthquake comics. I am very happy to receive your comments and feedback.

I would love to share more of my comic artworks with you. This series of comics is from the comic book Coco Goes To Study In England that I published in Hong Kong in 2007.

I went to study in the UK when I was 15. It was a tremendous culture-shock experience for me to take my A levels in a girls' boarding school in North Yorkshire, where I sang hymns every morning and fed horses; I got lost at the backstage of the Royal Opera House in London and ended up sketching dancers of Kirov Ballet; I made a plaster bust of the Phantom Of The Opera and was invited to a free show by the singer who played the phantom; in a very unexpected way I did the first nude drawing of my life by walking into the wrong classroom; I was extremely confused with the concept of contemporary art when I was told to appreciate Duchamp's toilet seat...

For 8 years in the UK, I have become a blend of the East and the West. The difference between our cultures does not always represent 'gaps', there are more pleasures and opportunities to appreciate what is new to us. :)

From now on I will regularly update the Coco Wang Comics Blog which is dedicated to my Coco Goes To Study In England comic stories.

Thank you.

Hi Coco, your blog inspires me. Please continue drawing. I like the way you use the colour of red to strengthen your comic emotions.

Studying in England is not all it is cracked up to be. It seems the University of London is especially bad. Check out: http://www.saynotobirkbeck.co.uk/
